The New Zealand Health Foundation for Asian and Ethnic Communities (NZHFAEC) currently consists of representatives from the major Auckland based Chinese Communities as well as Chinese organisations from other major cities such as Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. They plan to include representatives from the Korean Societies in the near future. NZHFAEC focuses on health and medical issues and related services for the Asian communities. NZHFAEC promotes exchanges between Asian countries and New Zealand in health and related areas, and bridge Asian communities with mainstream government and non-government organisations. They also organise regular seminars and workshops for the Asian communities to promote their awareness of health issues.

NZHFAEC has run a series of free monthly seminars for the Chinese community in Auckland. They have been all well received with an audience of 120 to 150 on each occasion. Dr Dai has been a contributor at these seminars and the award was in recognition of his contribution to the success of the seminar series.
