Dr Andrew Riley is just back from a very successful volunteer trip to Tonga from the 17th-25th August.
The team consisted of two eye surgeons lead by Dr Andrew Riley and two optometrists. The optometrists checked and assessed approximately 840 people for glasses and referred on those requiring surgery.
Over the week 49 surgeries were performed, 41 of those for cataracts and the remainder for pterygium and lid surgery.
It was an extremely rewarding experience for all those involved with the trip.
