What happens on my first visit to Eye Doctors?

When you visit Eye Doctors you can expect world-class expertise from people dedicated to your health and comfort.

You’ll be met by our friendly team, guided through the process, and given time to ask questions or bring up concerns.

Your first visit will involve an ophthalmic examination by one of our surgeons. This will allow our specialists to determine your next best step. Depending on the results of your exam, your first visit may also include one or more of the following:

  • Eye chart test
  • Peripheral vision test
  • Slit lamp microscope examination
  • Glaucoma pressure test
  • Retinal examination

Side effect of eye drops

In some of these procedures, we may need to use eye drops that widen your pupils. This will allow us to examine the inside of your eyes. If you’re bringing your child in, these eye drops will be used to check their focus.

You may find you have trouble focusing afterwards. This is normal and temporary but you should arrange for transport home after your appointment.
